Beeswax Candle Covers FAQ
1. What are beeswax candle covers made of?+
They are handcrafted from natural beeswax, giving them a warm, authentic candle-like glow. Each piece is unique.
2. Are beeswax candle covers heat-safe?+
Yes, when installed correctly. Beeswax covers can be used with
LED bulbs of any wattage, or incandescent bulbs up to 25 watts maximum. Higher wattage incandescent bulbs can cause melting.
3. How do I choose the right size?+
Measure your socket carefully:
Candelabra socket: 3/4” outside diameter → needs a candelabra cover (13/16” inside).
Medium/Edison socket: 1-1/8” outside diameter → needs a medium base cover (1-3/16” inside).
European socket: 15/16” outside diameter → custom beeswax covers are available.
Also measure height from the bottom of the socket to the top of the socket or cardboard insulator (for incandescent), or to the top of the bulb’s metal base (for LED).
Find detailed instructions on our
Measurement & Installation page.
4. My old candle cover fits - can I just order the same height?+
Not always. Many existing covers were installed too tall. Please measure correctly to avoid melting or scorching.
5. Do I need a cardboard insulator?+
Not always. If your socket does not currently have them they may not be required. Please see our
"Measurement & installation" page for details. If your socket does have cardboard insulators you must always use these U.L.-listed
cardboard insulator over the socket terminals (the screws inside the socket). This prevents electrical hazards. If your current insulator is worn, brittle, or missing, replace it.
6. Can beeswax covers be used outdoors?+
Beeswax is sensitive to heat and weather. They are designed only for indoor use. Our
resin candle covers should be used outdoors.
7. Do beeswax covers drip like real candles?+
No. They are solid beeswax and will not drip or burn down. The natural surface texture mimics real wax drips.
8. How do I install them?+
Simply slide the cover over the socket (with insulator in place). Ensure the cover height is level with the top of the socket (if using incandescent) or fully covering the bulb’s metal base (if using LED).
9. What bulbs work best with beeswax covers?+
LED bulbs: Any wattage is safe.
Incandescent bulbs: Up to 25W only. Higher wattages will melt the wax.
10. Can I order custom sizes?+
Yes. European socket sizes and special heights can be made in beeswax.
